    Advance Notice of a job opportunity at Liverpool John Moores University, United Kingdom.

    The aim of this message is to inform potential candidates about a forthcoming opportunity to join in the activities of the Movement Function Research Laboratory at the Research Institute for Sport and Exercise Sciences and to seek expressions of interest.

    Introduction

    A suitably qualified person is required to manage the technical operation of the Institute's research laboratories in the areas of biomechanics and motor control. The laboratories house an extensive range of electronic and computer equipment used in the analysis of human movement (www.e-motek.com, www.vicon.com, www.kistler.com, www.emgsrus.com). Activities in the laboratories cover undergraduate and postgraduate teaching as well as project and research work. A person who was able to significantly contribute to the research provision within these laboratories would be particularly welcome.

    Essential requirements

    ·Degree in Computer Science or Biomechanics (or equivalent)
    ·Fluency using Microsoft software including administrator level duties (WindowsXP, Office)
    ·Experience in the integration of hardware and software systems
    ·Effective communication skills to assist with both the development of research projects and the supervision of undergraduate students in the laboratories.

    Desirable

    ·Postgraduate Degree (PhD, MSc) in a Biomechanics related area
    ·Experience with a range of biomechanical measurement techniques (optoelectronic motion analysis, force platform, video analysis, electromyography)
    ·Experience with 3D software (eg. Softimage, Xsi, Maya, 3D-max)
    ·Knowledge of Realtime applications
    ·Experience in research design and experimentation including data recording, processing and storage
    ·Programming skills (eg. Matlab, C++, VisualBasic, Delphi, OpenGL)
    ·IT communications/networking experience
