ANNOUNCEMENT OF FACULTY POSITION

Department of Exercise Sciences
The Department of Exercise Sciences in the College of Health and Human
Performance is seeking applications from qualified individuals to fill a
permanent (continuing status) track faculty position in Exercise Science to
teach Biomechanics. The Department of Exercise Sciences has undergraduate
majors in Exercise Science, Athletic Training, Fitness and Lifestyle
Management, and Pedagogy. Undergraduate coursework in biomechanics is
taught in all four majors. Masters and Doctoral degrees are offered in
Athletic Training, Exercise Science with emphases in Exercise Physiology,
Health Promotion, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Pedagogy.
A 10,000 sq. ft. Human Performance Research Center (HPRC) is the home of
five teaching and research laboratories available to conduct applied and
basic individual and collaborative research. The HPRC includes exercise
physiology, exercise biochemistry, body composition, biomechanics, and
therapeutic modalities labs. The 1800 square foot biomechanics lab contains
a six-camera Motion Analysis video system, Peak Performance motion analysis
system, two AMTI force plates, BioSys EMG system, Biodex System 3
isokinetic dynamometer, and a BioPac EMG System. Current research in the
Biomechanics Lab includes injury rehabilitation, movement dysfunction,
exercise adaptation, and sport biomechanics. ABD applicants will be
considered.
Responsibilities
-Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in biomechanics.
-Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students in the department.
-Serve, when appointed, on department, college and/or university committees.
-Conduct and publish research in area(s) of specialization and seek external
funding.
Desired Qualifications
-Earned doctorate degree with an emphasis in biomechanics.
-Record of (or potential for) published research and external funding.
-Ability to teach and mentor both undergraduate and graduate students
-Abilities in computer programming (e.g., Visual Basic, C#, etc...), EMG
(fine-wire and/or surface electrode), and tissue mechanics.
-Involvement in national and regional professional organizations.
