PRELIMINARY ANNOUNCEMENT AND CALL FOR PAPERS

It is my pleasure to announce the fourth Southern California Conference
on Biomechanics to be held April 22-23, 2005 at California State
    University Fullerton in California, USA.

The Southern California Conference on Biomechanics seeks to foster the
professional development of graduate and undergraduate students in
biomechanics by providing students an opportunity to present their
research to the biomechanics community. As such, only graduate and
undergraduate students in biomechanics are eligible to present papers at
    the conference.

In addition to free-communication presentations by undergraduate and
graduate students, the program is highlighted by two keynote addresses.
On Friday evening April 22, Dr. George Salem from the Department of
Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy at the University of Southern
California will give the SCCB keynote address entitled " Preserving
physical function: biomechanics-based intervention". On Saturday
afternoon April 23, Dr. Joseph Hamill from the School of Public Health
and Health Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Amherst will
present the ASB keynote entitled "Biomechanics of Athletic Footwear".

Conference attendance is open to all individuals. Due to the generous
support of the American Society of Biomechanics, there is no
registration fee for attending the SCCB. On-site registration for
conference attendance will be provided. However, to facilitate
conference planning, individuals planning to attend the SCCB are
requested to confirm their attendance via email.

Details regarding the abstract submission process and presentation
format can be found at the conference web site,
    http://hdcs.fullerton.edu/knes/sccbio/

The conference also seeks to promote biomechanics and to increase the
exchange of ideas among biomechanics programs within the greater
    Southern California area.

    Conference Organizers:
Dr. Guillermo J. Noffal, California State University, Fullerton
Dr. Karen Perell, California State University, Fullerton

    Program Co-Chairpersons:
Dr. William Whiting, California State University, Northridge
    Dr. Michael Feltner, Pepperdine University
