We currently have the following position available:
An opening is available for a senior level engineer to develop and manage
research projects in the area of computational biomechanics. The successful
candidate will be expected to develop detailed research plans, perform
advanced computational analysis, and manage internal/external resources to
achieve project objectives.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Apply advanced computational analysis methods to further DePuy research
objectives. Attainment of intimate familiarity with DePuy business strategy
and contribution to the research vision is expected.
+ Manage research projects from concept stage through transition to product
development.
+ Assess new computational technologies and develop improved methods for
product evaluation.
+ Evaluate research proposals relative to strategic objectives and business
plan.
+ Assist in the management of research and development associates.
+ Interface with surgeons, researchers, outside vendors, and academic
institutions.
+ Prepare reports and presentations for both internal and external
dissemination.
+ Stay current with advances in orthopaedic surgery, biomechanics, and
biomaterials.
+ Attend technical meetings and participate in activities of technical
societies.
+ Provide technical assistance to Product Development, Marketing, Sales,
Quality, Clinical and Regulatory, and Manufacturing groups.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
+ MS/PhD degree in mechanical engineering or biomedical engineering with a
minimum of 5/3 years research or product development experience in
orthopaedics or biomechanics.
+ In-depth knowledge of finite element analysis and proficiency with
commercial FEA codes ANSYS & ABAQUS required. Must possess demonstrated
skill with advanced applications of FEA. Experience with custom code
development and/or custom scripting of commercial FEA packages preferred.
+ Proficiency with multi-body dynamics simulation, constrained optimization
techniques, probabilistic FEA methods, and/or neural networks would be
considered advantageous.
+ Excellent oral/written communication skills and interpersonal skills
required.
