Position:
Research Fellowship in Bioreactor Design and Development
Organization:
National Centre for Biomedical Engineering Science,
National University of Ireland Galway
Location:
Galway, Ireland
Deadline:
5.00 p.m. Friday, 17th December 2004
Description:
A research fellowship for 18 months will be available starting February
2005. The position involves the design and development of a physiological
simulator. The successful candidate will become part of a research team
focusing on the development of a bioreactor for cardiovascular
tissue-engineering applications.
Qualifications:
Ideal candidates must have a doctoral degree in biology, biochemistry,
biomedical engineering or related sciences. Proven expertise in endothelial
/smooth muscle cell culture is essential and experience of molecular biology
techniques (immunohistochemistry, RT-PCR) would be an advantage. Relevant
experience in tissue engineering from a biological standpoint would be
advantageous as the successful candidate will be required to design tissue
engineered constructs and develop a system to simultaneously monitor both
the mechanical and biological properties of these constructs in a
purpose-built bioreactor. This position is funded through Enterprise Ireland
Commercialisation Fund for Technology Development.
