-- Post Doctoral Research Scientist Position in Biomechanical Testing --
Center for Musculoskeletal Surgery,
Charité - University Medicine,
Berlin
The Center for Musculoskeletal Surgery is searching for a highly motivated,
ambitious engineer to run the bio-mechanical testing division of our
research
laboratories. The position would entail not only the development and
evaluation
of diverse implants for orthopaedic and trauma surgery, but also the leading
and
supervision of student and post-grad projects. The successful candidate
should
exhibit strong leadership capabilities and extensive experience in project
management.
Improved knowledge of the loading and kinematics of both the bone and soft
tissue structures in human joints can lead to improved clinical outcome.
With our close collaboration to the orthopaedic and trauma clinic of the
Charité, we aim to complete a number of projects based on clinically
relevant aspects of the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders. Through
increased knowledge of joint and implant loading by mechanical testing,
together with defined surgical and rehabilitation strategies, it is
intended to provide extensive knowledge that may help both routine and
borderline clinical cases to be optimally planned and reliably
reconstructed.
Since their conception some ten years ago, the research laboratories of
the Center for Musculoskeletal Surgery have grown into a group of over
30 personnel under the guidance of Professor Georg N. Duda. The successful
applicant will therefore become part of a highly motivated interdisciplinary
team in an extremely successful scientific working environment.
