Title: Engineer/Scientist II/III
Location: Boston MA Area
Engineer/Scientist II/III
JOB DESCRIPTION:
This individual will be involved with several aspects of preclinical
research, and will be interacting with a multidisciplinary group of scientists and
engineers involved in regenerative medicine of connective tissues. Specifically,
our group is involved in the discovery and development of new devices and
therapies for orthopaedic applications, including meniscus, tendons, and
ligaments. We are seeking an individual with a background in synthetic and
bio-polymers, scaffold engineering/design and cell-biomaterial interactions. Experience
with mechanical characterization of implants and soft tissues is desired.
Working knowledge of cell culture and biological analytical techniques such as
protein and nucleic acid assays, ELISA, and polymerase chain reaction is a plus.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work cooperatively with team members from other departments, and external
academic researchers and clinicians
Survey the patent landscape and develop new intellectual property Manage
pre-clinical projects Work independently to plan timelines and schedule
activities, project management. Initiate and execute relevant experiments. Develop
bioanalytical methods to support characterization of tissue and implant.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
· PhD in biomedical, chemical, mechanical, or materials engineering or MS
with 2 or more years of industrial experience.
· Strong communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills are a
must.
· Project management experience is a plus
· Medical device experience a plus.
· About 25% travel may be required
Title: Senior Engineer III
JOB DESCRIPTION:
This individual will be involved with several aspects of preclinical
research, and will be interacting with a multidisciplinary group of scientists and
engineers involved in regenerative medicine of connective tissues. Specifically,
our group is involved in several research projects aimed at the discovery and
development of new therapeutic interventions for the treatment of cartilage
and intervertebral disc diseases and injuries. We are seeking an individual with
experience in functional characterization of connective tissue or tissue
engineered constructs. Experience in the study of biological response to
mechanical induction or stimulation of cell or tissue is a plus, as well as good
understanding of state of the art molecular characterization such as gene expression
profiling, protein and nucleic acid assays. Experience in fabricating or
utilizing a wide range of synthetic and bio-polymers for tissue engineering would
also complement well our team. Responsibilities will include : Design,
execution and report of relevant experiments. Development of bioanalytical methods
to support specific characterization of tissue and implant. The individual will
be expected to drive many functional characterizations of our tissue
engineering programs. Project management of pre-clinical studies
QUALIFICATIONS:
· PhD with 2 or more years of postdoctoral or industrial research experience.
· Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are
essential. · Functional biomechanics, finite element analysis, bio-engineering,
material science. · Molecular biology, Cell biology is a plus. · Experience in
connective tissue biomechanics is a plus. · Good communication and presentation
skills are a must.
