    Question regarding Arterial Stretch

I am investigating axial arterial stretch. The literature often refers to in vivo/physiological axial stretch ratios. Examples include stretch ratios from 1.4 to 1.7 in the bovine carotid (von Maltzahn et al., 1984) and a range of 1.1 to 1.4 for the porcine coronary (Pandit et al., 2005). I am asking for clarification on how longitudinal physiological stretch is defined/measured (especially in humans). Is there a single reference that establishes methods for measuring in vivo longitudinal stretch?
Any guidance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
