    Dear Colleague,

    You are cordially invited to participate to IGS2005,
    the 12th Biennial Conference of the International Graphonomics Society,
    that will take place at University of Salerno, ITALY,
    from June 26 to June 29, 2005.
    Salerno is located along the Southern coast of Italy,
    close to Naples, Amalfi, Capri island, Pompei and the volcano Vesuvio.

    In this message some highlights of the conference are presented.

    The theme of IGS 2005 is
    "Advances in Graphonomics: Perceiving, Deciding, Acting",
    and will be a single track international forum for discussions
    on recent advances in the science and technology of
    handwriting and other graphic skills.

    IGS2005 will bring together the world's leading scientists
    and professionals in fine motor control, handwriting recognition,
    hand, finger, and arm movements, and their applications in
    human-computer interaction, education, forensic science,
    medicine, and other novel applications.

    The scientific program includes the following invited talks:

    "Pathophysiology of Writer's Cramp"
    Dr. Mike Hallet,
    Human Motor Control Section

    "Robot Handwriting"
    Prof. Veljko Potkonjak
    Faculty of Electrical Engineering

    "Line crossing analysis in handwritten documents by 3D micro-topography"
    Prof. Giuseppe Schirripa Spagnolo
    Department of Electronics
    University of Rome III,
    Rome, Italy

    There will be oral sessions and poster presentations addressing the
    following topics:

    Handwriting generation Neuroscience;
    Handwriting recognition Medical applications;
    Handwriting education Forensic applications;
    Handwriting analysis

    The Social Program includes a Welcome Party at the Historical "Palazzo S.
    Agostino" in Salerno, a boat cruise along the Amalfitana Coast and a
    Social Dinner in Amalfi, a Farewell Party featuring a live concert by
    University of Salerno Jazz Orchestra.
