  • Job Opening - Post-Doctoral Position in FEM & Robotics

    JOB OPENING:

    MUSCULOSKELETAL RESEARCH CENTER
    DEPARTMENT OF BIOENGINEERING
    UNIVERSITY OF PITTSBURGH

Job Position: Post-Doctoral Position: FEM and Robotics

    Description of Position:

The Musculoskeletal Research Center at the University of Pittsburgh
is seeking a qualified applicant to fill an available research
    position.

The candidate will be responsible for leading and directing a
research team under the direction of a senior faculty member that
studies the biomechanics of the ACL. The team consists of graduate
students, research fellows, and clinicians. The overall goal of this
research team is the detailed elucidation of the contribution of the
ACL, including in situ forces and kinematics, to the intact knee, as
well as the evaluation of various ACL reconstructive procedures and
ACL replacement grafts. The work is done using a combined
experimental (robotic technology) and computational approach.

The candidate should have experience with finite element modeling,
specifically with the analysis of soft tissues and joints. The
position will involve the development of finite element models of the
knee joint and anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).

Qualifications: Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or Bioengineering.

    Skills:

    - Strong communication and leadership skills
    - A dedication to leading a research team into the future
    - Must interact and work well with a team
    - Experience in finite element modeling
    - Programming (C++, MATLAB, Mathematica)
    - Highly motivated

    Location:

The Musculoskeletal Research Center (MSRC) was established in 1990
for the purpose of developing integrated programs on orthopaedic
education and research. The MSRC is a flourishing enterprise where
engineers, biologists and clinicians get together with the help of a
dedicated staff, to guide and teach qualified students and research
    fellows.

    Start Date: Immediately

    Starting Salary: Commensurate with experience

Applicant should submit a curriculum vitae, a statement of interest,
and three letters of recommendation to:
