We are currently seeking a motivated Research Engineer for the Biomechanics Department based in Winterthur, Switzerland. The successful candidate will be responsible for Fixation Research projects.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Project work and coordination of internal research projects and external research collaboration; the goal is a better fundamental understanding of bone biology and the interaction of bone tissue with implant material for cemented and uncemented fixation (e.g. osseointegration, stress shielding, surface configurations).
- Ability to plan and lead projects, interpret data and develop research protocols and practices.
- Support Development, Marketing and Education Departments with specific knowledge and expertise in the field of fixation.
- Create presentations and peer reviewed publications.- Evaluate scientific/medical publications in the field of fixation of joint replacements
- Monitor and assess emerging technologies to enhance fixation of orthopedic implants
Job Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering (Dipl.Eng, MS)
- 3+ years work experience in the orthopedic field (university of industry)
- Technical expertise exemplified through professional work experience or academic training in one or more of the following areas:
x Finite element analysis including basics of bone remodeling,
x Experimental biomechanics and/or device testing,
x In vitro analysis of implant fixation (e.g. primary stability, micromotion, stress/strain),
x Biomaterials research,
- Willing to work in an interdisciplinary environment
- Excellent communication skills
- Fluency (written and oral) in both German and English
