Postdoctoral Fellowship in Human Movement Neuroscience

The Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation at the University of Alberta,
Edmonton, Alberta invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellowship in the
Human Neurophysiology Laboratory (start date to be determined).

The successful applicant will possess a PhD in an area related to the neural
control of human movement. This individual will participate in a research
program designed to address questions related to: 1) roles for sensory
feedback in the control of movement; 2) neural control of motor unit
discharge; 3) contributions from the motor cortex to movement control; and 4)
functional electrical stimulation of human muscle.

The appointment will be for two years. The successful candidate will be
expected to teach one course per year but the primary focus will be on
research activities including initiating research projects, grant writing, and
manuscript preparation.

The Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation serves approximately 950
undergraduate and graduate students, and offers several degree programs: BPE,
BA (Recreation, Sport, & Tourism), BSc Kinesiology, MSc, MA, and PhD. The
University of Alberta is home to the Centre for Neuroscience, an
interdisciplinary group conducting research across a broad range of the
neurosciences. This group is particularly strong in motor control neuroscience
and includes scientists studying the neural mechanisms of movement and
