PhD Studentships in Biomechanics
Department of Bioengineering
Applications are invited for two PhD studentships in musculoskeletal
biomechanics.
The first studentship is funded by the Furlong Research Foundation into
the biomechanics of the glenohumeral joint of the shoulder. This
project will require a solid mechanics background with some engineering
design experience.
The second studentship is in the area of bone mechanics. A background
in stress analysis with some experience in finite element modelling is
required.
The students will be supervised by Dr. Anthony Bull and a new member of
staff within the Department of Bioengineering at Imperial College
London. This department has received the highest research rating (5*)
in the most recent Research Assessment Exercise.
A stipend and fees will be awarded. Students must satisfy the
eligibility criteria, including UK or EU residence for three or more
years.
For further details of both studentships, please contact Dr. Anthony
Bull on tel no 020 7594 5186.
The studentships are available from Autumn 2005 and applicants should
register their interest by sending an up-to-date curriculum vitae to Dr.
Anthony Bull at a.bull@imperial.ac.uk and by submitting an application
form (which can be downloaded from http://www.imperial.ac.uk/pgoptions).
Closing date: 31st July 2005
