  • "Application of Science in Footwear Research and Development"2005, Hong Kong, China

    Dear Subscribers,

The Human Movement Laboratory of Department of Sports Science and Physical
Education at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, in celebrating the 40th
anniversary of the Faculty of Education, will host the "Application of
Science in Footwear Research and Development" conference on the 18th of
August 2005. The conference is financially sponsored by Beijing Li-Ning
Sports Goods Company Limited, and supported by New Asia College, Department
of Automation and Computer-Aided Engineering, CUHK-WHO Collaborating Center
for Sports Medicine and Health Promotion, HKSAR Innovation and Technology
Commission and The Hong Kong Ergonomics Society. The organizing committee
cordially invites you to participate in this conference.

In recent decades, the application of science in footwear research and
development has emerged as a new science. Last year we invited Dr Edward C.
Ned Frederick to give a fruitful lecture on the application of scientific
techniques and measurements. This year it is our honour to invite Prof Roger
Bartlett from New Zealand, Prof Mario Lamontagne from Canada, Prof Young-Tae
Lim from Korea, Prof Ravindra S. Goonetilleke, Prof Ming Zhang, Prof Wen J.
Li and Mr Yuk-Ming Tang from Hong Kong to present their professional
knowledge and the most recent biomechanics and engineering techinques in
    shoe design.

The ASFD2005 conference is just four days before the International Symposium
of Biomechanics in Sports 2005 Beijing. If you are going to ISBS2005, plan
your trip one week earlier and visit Hong Kong first. Participate in
ASFD2005, enjoy a few days shopping in Hong Kong, and then go to Beijing for
ISBS2005. For details, please visit http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/spe/asfd2005/.

We hope to see you in Hong Kong!
