The Musculoskeletal Modeling and Imaging Group (MMIG) in the Department
of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Michigan is seeking to
immediately hire a full-time research assistant. MMIG is a
multidisciplinary group of faculty, staff, and students that conducts
research on a wide variety of musculoskeletal topics ranging from
soft-tissue disorders of the shoulder to knee arthroplasty. The
position is to support the research activities of the group. Activities
include subject recruitment, data collection (load cell, EMG, motion,
ultrasound, etc.), data processing and management, maintaining records
for IRB compliance, and prepare manuscripts for publication. Current
projects include computational modeling of the normal and pathologic
shoulder, MRI and ultrasound imaging of the glenohumeral joint,
kinematics studies of rotator cuff tear patients, and arthroplasty
studies involving cadaver tissues. Experience with LabView and Matlab is
desirable. The successful candidate will work with faculty, staff, and
graduate students to conduct research in orthopaedics. The successful
applicant will have at least a B.S. with an emphasis on biomechanics.
