The Society for Back Pain Research annual general meeting will take place at
the University of Warwick, UK. on the 10th and 11th November 2005.
This year's Invited speakers include:
Prof Jaakko Kaprio (Helsinki): "The value of Twin Studies in research on
Degenerative Musculoskeletal Disorders"

Back Pain: a Critical Review"
Prof Tapio Videman (Helsinki and Alberta): "Challenges with Outcomes in
Epidemiology of Degenerative Musculoskeletal Disorders"
Prof Eugene Carragee (Stanford): "Diagnostic evaluation of Low Back Pain

The aim of the society is to promote the study of all clinical and

research into its causes, treatment and prevention. To meet this aim the
society takes a multi-disciplinary approach to back pain research, with
members belonging to wide range of fields including bioengineering and
biochemistry, as well as anatomy, epidemiology, physiotherapy, orthopaedic
surgery, rheumatology and neurology.
Scientific meetings are held yearly and non-members are welcome to attend,
and to present their research. Symposia are devoted to specific topics of
particular current relevance. The accepted abstracts are published in the

submitted by a PhD student. Every effort is made to keep the costs of the
meetings to a minimum.
