    The Society for Back Pain Research annual general meeting will take place at
    the University of Warwick, UK. on the 10th and 11th November 2005.

    This year's Invited speakers include:

    Prof Jaakko Kaprio (Helsinki): "The value of Twin Studies in research on
    Degenerative Musculoskeletal Disorders"
    Prof Olli Miettinen (Montreal): "European Guidelines for Prevention in Low
    Back Pain: a Critical Review"
    Prof Tapio Videman (Helsinki and Alberta): "Challenges with Outcomes in
    Epidemiology of Degenerative Musculoskeletal Disorders"
    Prof Eugene Carragee (Stanford): "Diagnostic evaluation of Low Back Pain
    and Disc Degeneration"

    The aim of the society is to promote the study of all clinical and
    scientific aspects of spinal pain, including the neck, and to encourage
    research into its causes, treatment and prevention. To meet this aim the
    society takes a multi-disciplinary approach to back pain research, with
    members belonging to wide range of fields including bioengineering and
    biochemistry, as well as anatomy, epidemiology, physiotherapy, orthopaedic
    surgery, rheumatology and neurology.

    Scientific meetings are held yearly and non-members are welcome to attend,
    and to present their research. Symposia are devoted to specific topics of
    particular current relevance. The accepted abstracts are published in the
    proceedings of JBJS. Prizes (including cash) are available to the best two
    papers presented, and a Student Prize is available for the best paper
    submitted by a PhD student. Every effort is made to keep the costs of the
    meetings to a minimum.
