Dear Biomch-L readers,
(1) I have just edited and reformatted the Biomch-L archives for August
and September. This involves removing the 'PLEASE SUBSCRIBE ME' and
similar messages, and reducing the line length to 80 characters. Please
try to keep the line length of your Biomch-L contributions below 80 (use
the RETURN key, or the built-in formatter of your editor). Long lines
cause problems in some E-mail gateways, reduce readability, and cost me
a lot of time. Also remember to add a meaningful Subject: line to your
message. This becomes increasingly important for those who search the
Biomch-L archives using Gopher (gopher hearn.nic.surfnet.nl).
(2) Following the debate on advertising on Biomch-L, I was approached by
one well-known company, who would like to make it known that they can be
reached by E-mail. I think is it good that companies are willing to
talk to customers by E-mail. After contacting my fellow-moderators, we
decided to compile a 'Biomechanics Yellow Pages' file, which will be
posted once and can also be retrieved from LISTSERV. Not a lot of
information can be included in such a file, just name and address and a
general description of the company. For the time being, I would like to
restrict this to those companies who can be reached by E-mail. I invite
all commercial subscribers to Biomch-L to send me their information (by
E-mail of course).
