    The Mayo Clinic Biomechanics Laboratory in Department of Orthopedic is pleased to announce the opportunity for post-doctoral research sponsored by the National Center for Medical Rehabilitation Research (NCMRR) and/or National Institute of Health (NIH). Specifics of these fellowships include:

    * Eligibility:
    PhD in engineering with experience on magnetic resonance imaging and/or analytic and experimental mechanics, or M.D. specialized in medical imaging, radiology or rehabilitation.

    Candidates for NCMRR must be citizens of the United States.

    * Duration of Training:
    Two years with possible extension to three years.

    * Research areas:
    An opportunity to: (1) develop disciplined research skills in the environment of an established, well-recognized biomechanics laboratory and (2) use these skills to develop independent research with a mentor. The research begins with a current biomechanics laboratory project called Magnetic Resonance Elastography (MRE). Areas emphasized in this track include soft tissue mechanics, image processing, finite element analysis, musculoskeletal rehabilitation and movement disorders such as those associated with stroke, disuse atrophy, hyperthyroid or myofascial pain.

    * Resources:
    Exceptional resources are available in the following areas:
    Animal research
    Clinical Research and trial design
