RESEARCH ASSOCIATE
DEPARTMENT OF NUTRITION & EXERCISE SCIENCES, OREGON STATE UNIVERSITY

POSITION: This is a 12-month, full-time, fixed term Research Associate
position with major responsibility to conduct biomechanics research
related to the National Center for Accessible Transportation at OSU.
Ongoing projects are in the biomechanics of transfers of people with
disabilities between a wheelchair and an aircraft seat or toilet, with
interest in reducing the risk of injury. Opportunities also exist to
assist with biomechanics-related research of faculty and students in the
Biomechanics, Sports Medicine, and Movement Studies in Disability
programs.

QUALIFICATIONS: A Ph.D. in biomedical engineering, exercise science, or
a related field is required. Applicants should have research experience
involving motion capture, force plates, 3D kinematics, and inverse
dynamics modeling. Preference will be given to applicants who have
experience with Vicon systems and programming in BodyBuilder and Matlab.
Experience or study related to occupational or clinical biomechanics and
people with disabilities is desirable. Effective written and verbal
communication skills are preferred. A demonstrable commitment to
promoting and enhancing diversity is preferred.

SALARY: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

GENERAL INFORMATION: The Biomechanics Laboratory at OSU is focused on
clinical and ergonomic applications of biomechanics. Current research
is in accessible public transportation, preventing falls by older
adults, and lifespan approaches to hip fracture prevention.
Collaborative research is related to ACL injury and interventions for
knee osteoarthritis.
