The Faculty of Engineering Technology provides educational programmes on
Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design Engineering and Civil
Engineering. The faculty has approximately 60 PhD students and employs
about 230 staff. The Faculty is actively involved in initiating new
research schools and knowledge centres. The faculty stimulates national
and international cooperation with industrial partners and other
research groups.
The Faculty of Engineering Technology of the University of Twente has a
vacancy for the function of
Professor of Biomechanical Engineering m/f
Duties: You will manage the Biomechanical Engineering department and
coordinate the training programmes and research of this group. Your
educational tasks will comprise of contributions for the bachelor and
master programmes for Mechanical Engineering (WB), Biomedical
Engineering (BMT), Industrial Design Engineering (IO) and Technical
Medicine (TG). You will convey your knowledge in an enthusiastic fashion
using stimulating, didactically sound methods. An important educational
and research task is to direct and train Master and PhD students.
Your research task will consist of providing direction in an inspiring
way and initiating research into the mechanics of soft and hard
biological tissues and the application of this knowledge in the design
of tools, methods and techniques for the restoration of locomotion. You
will also be involved in initiating new research on tissue engineering,
virtual reality and haptic interfaces together with other research
groups participating in the Institute for Bio Medical Technology (BMTi)
of the University of Twente.
Profile: You have a broad (bio)mechanical background and proven
experience with initiating, implementing and supervising research in
collaboration with clinical and industrial partners.
You are able to secure research grants from government and industry.
International recognition is an important condition for this
appointment. In addition to managing your own group you will also
contribute to other faculty tasks.
Offer: Depending on experience the salary is EUR 7962 maximum gross per
month.
