Small, highly focused Orthopaedic Research Institute is seeking an experienced research and development engineer to work in collaboration with Institute staff and orthopaedic surgeons and residents. Projects range from functional assessment of orthopaedic procedures and practices to the design and development of devices for orthopaedic surgery. Instruction of residents in orthopaedic biomechanics and biomaterials is also an important part of the Institute mission.
Candidates with the PhD degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related discipline coupled with industrial/clinical experience will be favored. Individuals with the master's degree and substantial experience in applied orthopaedic biomechanics will also be considered.
The Institute is an independent, not-for-profit organization and is affiliated with the largest health care system in Kansas and with the Orthopaedic Residency Program in Wichita.
