    Title: Senior Associate - Bone & Mineral Metabolism
    Location: Thousand Oaks, California
    Date: September 28, 2005

    Job Description:
    This position will oversee biomechanical strength testing of bone from
    animal studies, as well as contribute to other evaluations of bone quality
    such as CT & SEM imaging. Requires basic mechanical engineering background
    or hands-on experience in destructive mechanical testing. Background in bone
    biology and/or biomechanics a plus, as well as experience in imaging and
    working with animal tissue.

    Under minimal supervision, this position's primary responsibility involves
    performing experiments, organizing data, and analyzing results. Specific
    responsibilities include analyzing, recording, and reporting the results and
    conclusions of laboratory experiments, summarizing and interpreting
    analytical data, and designing (with the help of a supervisor) experimental
    protocols and procedures. Employees will also be responsible for maintaining
    laboratory equipment and supplies. Additional responsibilities include
    maintaining laboratory notebook and/or computer files, participating in
    group and project meetings, and attending and presenting at seminars as
    required. This position may also provide some guidance, supervision, and/or
    instruction to Research Associate Is or Lab Assistants.

    General Experience:
    Bachelor's Degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, or a related field
    required. Typically 3 to 7 years relevant laboratory experience also
    required (including post-graduate education). Candidates should be able to
    operate specialized laboratory equipment and computers and demonstrate good
    analytical skills. Good inter-personal skills, communication skills (both
    written and oral), and problem-solving and scientific skills are also
    required.
