  • Tenure track position announcements: Two Assistant to FullProfessor positions in BME at WPI

Two Faculty Positions at WPI in Biomechanical Engineering
    Department of Biomedical Engineering

Deadline: Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until
    the positions are filled.

As part of a strategic institutional plan to leverage emerging facets of
technology and engineering with the life sciences, the Biomedical Engineering
(BME) Department of Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) invites
applications for one or two tenure-track faculty positions at the
Assistant/Associate/Full Professor level. These positions are expected to
    filled beginning August 1, 2006.

Individuals with expertise in biomechanical engineering (with an emphasis on
    biomaterials, cell/tissue mechanics, mechanobiology, cryobiology,
microfluidics, or tissue engineering) are encouraged to apply. Current
biomechanical areas of interest on the WPI campus include: tissue mechanics,
orthopedic and dental biomechanics, cardiovascular biomechanics, tissue
engineering and biomaterials, biotransport, rehabilitation engineering, and
medical device design. The Department has specialties in biomaterial/tissue
interactions, tissue mechanics, tissue engineering, biosensors,
    bioinstrumentation, and magnetic resonance imaging.

Applicants are expected to have a strong commitment to high quality
undergraduate and graduate engineering education through teaching and
advising, develop strong partnerships with the medical device/biotechnology
industry, as well as maintain an active and funded research program.

WPI is the 3rd oldest, nationally ranked, technological university with 2,700
undergraduate and more than 1,000 full- and part-time graduate students. The
BME undergraduate program currently has 188 students. Approximately 50
students pursue MS, Master of Engineering, and PhD degrees. A joint PhD
program in Biomedical Engineering and Medical Physics also exists between WPI
and the University of Massachusetts Medical School (2 miles from WPI), with
emphases on medical device design, medical imaging, and biosensors.

Interested candidates should send a statement of research and teaching
interests, a curriculum vitae, and a list of five references (with all
contact information) to: Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Human Resources,
100 Institute Rd., Worcester, MA 01609-2280. You may fax your information to
    (508) 831-5715 or email: NO PHONE CALLS PLEASE.
Review of applications will begin on December 15, 2004 and continue until the
positions are filled. For additional information and inquiries about the
