    Announcement of Faculty Position for Fall 2006


    Biomechanics




    The Department of Health, Exercise, and Sport Sciences at Texas Tech
    University is seeking a tenure-track faculty member in Biomechanics.
    Individuals having an applied emphasis in sport, ergonomics, clinical
    applications, and /or aging are encouraged to apply.



    RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses and direct
    graduate students in Biomechanics. Conduct research and seek external
    funding in the area of specialization. Provide service to professional
    organizations. Responsibilities also include department, college, and
    university committee assignments.



    QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate should possess a terminal
    degree with an emphasis in biomechanics or closely related discipline,
    demonstrated potential to establish a focused line of research, evidence
    of effective teaching, and the ability and willingness to teach
    Biomechanics and other exercise and sport science courses at the
    graduate and undergraduate levels.



    RANK AND SALARY: Assistant Professor. Salary is commensurate with
    qualifications.



    EFFECTIVE DATE OF APPOINTMENT: August 19, 2006.



    THE DEPARTMENT AND THE UNIVERSITY: The Department of Health, Exercise,
    and Sport Sciences is housed in the College of Arts and Sciences. The
    Bachelor of Science is offered, as well as the Master of Science and the
    PhD jointly with Physiology. Numerous opportunities exist for
    collaborative ventures across campus and with the Medical School.
    Eight-hundred and ninety-three undergraduate students are currently
    enrolled in programs in fitness and wellness promotion, physical
    education teacher education, exercise sciences, health education and
    sport management. Graduate program specialties include: motor behavior,
    exercise and sport psychology, biomechanics, exercise
    physiology/physiology, sport management, and pedagogy. Texas Tech
    University is a state-supported, coeducational institution with a
    student population of 28,157 located in the West Texas city of Lubbock.
    The campus is on a 1,839-acre tract, making it one of the largest in the
    nation. The Spanish Renaissance-style red-tile roofed buildings are
    surrounded by expansive lawns and impressive landscaping. The university
    offers opportunities not only for research and study, but also for
    varied cultural and recreational activities.
