    The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Utah has
    two tenure track positions at the early to mid-career level specializing
    in the area of Solid Mechanics beginning Fall Semester, 2006.

    The candidates should be qualified to teach courses in solid mechanics
    and other core Mechanical Engineering courses at the undergraduate and
    graduate levels and are expected to develop a very active research
    program in support of the departmentís overall vision for growth.
    Preferred research and teaching interests include computational and/or
    experimental solid mechanics applied to problems in biomechanics,
    nanomechanics, composite and multi-functional materials, advanced energy
    systems, or other areas of applied solid mechanics. Rank and salary will
    be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

    Applicants are expected to have a Ph.D. or Sc.D. in Mechanical
    Engineering or a closely related field. United States citizenship (or
    permanent residency) and industrial experience are preferred but not
    required. Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled.
    Early submissions will be appreciated. The Search Committee will start
    reviewing applications in December 2005.
