    The Spine Research Laboratory at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is currently
    seeking a full-time Research Engineer specializing in experimental
    biomechanics. We are currently accepting applications for this immediate
    opening and will continue until the position is filled.

    Our laboratory is associated with the Cedars-Sinai Institute for Spinal
    Disorders and the Cedars-Sinai Orthopaedic Center. We conduct
    interdisciplinary studies on connective tissues and bone, with a focus on
    the spine. We perform mechanical tests utilizing human cadaveric tissue and
    animal models with the latest servo-pneumatic, optoelectronic, and custom
    loading and measurement equipment. Our research is funded by grants, and
    institutional and industrial support. The candidate will support ongoing
    biomechanics research projects directed at evaluation of current and
    emerging technologies in the treatment of spinal degeneration, and
    investigation of mechanisms that lead to initiation, progression and
    prevention of disc degeneration.

    Job Description:
    The position entails working on various aspects of biomechanics research
    projects, including conducting mechanical tests of biologic tissue,
    collection and analysis of data, and manuscript preparation. The duties
    will include development and validation of custom-made measurement
    instruments. The research engineer will also be responsible for training
    and mentoring students, residents and fellows in experimental methods and
    will help manage laboratory materials and resources. The individual will
    interact with engineers, surgeons, undergraduate and graduate engineering
    students, medical students, surgical residents and fellows. Salary will be
    based on education and experience.

    Qualifications:
    Candidates with MS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, or
    related Engineering disciplines with previous experience in biomechanical
    testing, data acquisition, instrumentation, and computational analysis are
    encouraged to apply. Strong organizational and technical skills, good oral
    communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and within
    a multidisciplinary team are essential.
