  • Final reminder: Abstract deadline for EORS 2006, Bologna, Italy

    Dear Colleagues,

    The next meeting of the European Orthopaedic Research Society will be held in Bologna, Italy between 7th and 9th June 2006. The deadline for abstracts is 30th January 2006. Further details regarding the conference and abstract submission can be found at: http://www.ior.it/eors06

    Abstracts are invited on any of the following topics: Biomaterials; Bone biology (Osteoporosis and endocrine skeletal diseases) ; Bone damage and repair; Skeletal development; Tissue engineering; Bone biomechanics; Cartilage biology
    Computer assisted surgery and robotics; Imaging and diagnostics; Infection; Oncology; Arthroplasty; Revision surgery; Osteolysis and wear debris; Muscle - Tendons and ligaments; Shoulder and elbow; Hand and wrist; Hip; Knee; Foot and ankle; Spine and Intervertebral disc

    The six best abstracts will be invited to submit a complete manuscript to compete for the Mario Boni Award with a prize of € 3000. The five best abstracts on imaging technology in biological, technical and medical research within the musculo-skeletal system will compete for the Göran Selvik Award with a prize of € 1000. In addition, three poster awards (each € 250) will be given to the best posters in the fields of biomechanics, clinical research, and biology, respectively.

    The conference will include workshops on:
    "Aseptic" loosening of prostheses (Moderator: E. Gomez-Barrena, Madrid, E. Speakers: N. Athanasou, Oxford, UK; A. Trampuz, Basel, CH)

    Biomimetic strategies for bone tissue regeneration (Moderator: N. Rushton, Cambridge, UK. Speakers: A. Tampieri, Faenza, I; J.A. Jansen, Nijmegen, NL; R.G. Richards, Davos, CH)

    The conference will also include the following keynote lectures:

    Polymorphisms of genes associated to osteoporosis in Caucasian and African postmenopausal women (S. Musumeci, Sassari, I)

    Biomechanics of bone repair and regeneration (L. Claes, Ulm, D)

    Growth and shape of bones (U.E. Pazzaglia, Brescia, I)
