  • MSc Research Studentship in Clinical Biomechanics

Department of Sport, Health & Exercise Science
    University of Hull, United Kingdom

** MSc Research Studentship in Clinical Biomechanics **

Highly motivated students interested in pursuing an MSc degree by research
in the Department of Sport, Health & Exercise Science at the University of
Hull are invited to apply. We are looking to appoint a new research student
in Clinical Biomechanics, ideally from 1 May 2006, or soon thereafter.

Tuition fees will be paid at the UK rate by the Department of Sport, Health
& Exercise Science for one year, full-time, or two years, part-time.

The appointed student will participate in ongoing research investigating the
gait patterns of transtibial amputees walking with Early Walking Aids during
    physiotherapy treatment.

Applicants should have at least a 2.1 honours degree (or predicted) in an
appropriate Sport Science, Engineering or other related discipline with
specific experience of clinical biomechanics and/or gait analysis. Previous
research experience with a motion analysis system would be a desirable
asset. Testing will take place at a local NHS Trust hospital, therefore a
clean driving licence is essential and access to a vehicle is desirable. The
successful candidate will be expected to provide a Criminal Records Bureau
check to obtain an Honorary Contract from the NHS Trust.

The Human Performance Laboratory in the Department of Sport, Health &
Exercise Science is equipped with a 20-camera, high-speed motion analysis
system, three force platforms, EMG system, isokinetic dynamometry and
    equipment for dynamic posturography.

Please direct informal enquiries to Natalie Vanicek on 01482 466212
    N.Vanicek@hull.ac.uk or Dr Remco Polman on 01482 466160 R.Polman@hull.ac.uk

Formal applications should be sent in hard or electronic format, enclosing a
full CV and cover letter to
