Dear Yuniarto and dear all,
I have been informed of this discussion on correlation dimensions and
surface EMG signal and, more in general, on non linear analysis of sEMG by a
colleague.
I am a bit surprised reading the mails from Dingwell, Borg and Frank. Apart
from the fact that I largely agree with their comments, I also like to share
with you the following information. Along with my colleagues, I published 6
papers on RQA analysis of sEMG signals, completing also a simulation study
on the effect of MU sinchronization on %DET. As it is cited in one of the
mail a brief comment on these studies is also reported by one of us (G.
Filligoi) in Merletti and Parker book. I have also sent copies of the most
relevant (to this discussion) paper to Yuniarto.
I recognize that I probably can not be considered as one of those few
experts "on using nonlinear time series analysis methods to EMG" but maybe
Charles Webber and Joe Zbilut can be recognized as such. In shorts,
surprisingly it seems that there is a consistent part of the last ten years
lilterature on this topic that is, for some reason, not well known or
ignored.
However, and only for the sake of contributing to provide elements to the
discussion, if there is someone interested in receiving my papers on this
topic, please do not hesitate to ask.
