Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Clinical Biomechanics

The School of Medical Sciences seeks to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in
Clinical Biomechanics to teach in its undergraduate Health and Exercise Science
program and carry out research in biomechanics. The appointee will be required
to teach biomechanics, clinical movement studies, and related areas.
Essential criteria: PhD or equivalent in exercise science or a related
discipline; capacity for academic leadership in the discipline area; a
significant record of achievement in independent research in the area of
exercise science as evidenced by a record of publications in leading journals;
record of excellent achievement in teaching and supervision at undergraduate
and postgraduate levels; proven ability to attract nationally competitive
research funding; proven record of successful interactions with appropriate
professional organizations and relevant industry authorities; research focus
overlapping with existing research programs in the Health and Exercise Science
Unit; capacity and willingness to undertake administrative roles within the
School; ability and willingness to contribute to the Unit’s Lifestyle Clinic;
an understanding of equity and diversity principles; knowledge of OHS
responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant OHS training.
The salary range for Lecturer is A$65,028-A$76,660 and Senior Lecturer is
A$78,983-A$90,615 per year depending on qualifications and experience.
Membership of a University approved superannuation scheme is a condition of
employment.

Unit. The Health and Sports Science Unit has 6 academic and three
administrative staff. The Unit coordinates a Health and Exercise Science
undergraduate four-year degree that has approximately 60 students per year. The
degree has significant science, medical science, and exercise science
components as well as well developed practical courses and practicums. More

Lifestyle Clinic which is operated by staff and students. The research foci of
the Unit fit under the general area of the effect of physical activity on
health. Specific areas include: 1) exercise and hypertension, 2) exercise and
fat loss, and 3) exercise and motor control. The Unit has ongoing research
collaborations with the Garvan Institute and the Prince of Wales Research

School. Health and Sports Science is part of the School of Medical Sciences.
Other departments and units in the School are Anatomy, Physiology,
