Dear All,
As I received severals mail asking to post responses on my
original posting,
below is the response I got.
Hope will be useful.

Experts,
I am working in several EMG experiments, observing trunk
and limb muscles.
However, so far I always work with Male subjects.
Is it appropriate to take generalization on the result/
conclusion that it is not only for Male but will also
showed in Female subject ??
Please share your opinion on the difference between Male -
Female muscles activity pattern (EMG), or to list some
related papers.
Thank you,

Subject: EMG and gender differences

Dear Yuniarto,
I've been conducting a literature review regarding gender
differences in EMG for leg musculature. This was due to
an interest in why women tear their ACLs more frequently
than men. It is interesting to note that there are gender
differences in EMG, but the reason for the differences is
not clear just yet. I'm checking with an exercise
physiologist to see if there are documented gender
differences in muscle fiber types, etc., but I think a lot
of it is due to (exercise) training. I haven't looked at
upper body musculature and possible gender differences, so
I don't know if this is applicable, but here are a list of
articles I have been reading. I hope they are of use to
you.
Cheers,
Rebecca Bolt
