Research Fellow: School of Engineering Sciences
Our Ref: 05R0464
The aim of this 1 year project is to examine the parameters that influence the tibial bone stresses after total knee joint replacement. The project aims to investigate the influence of alignment and ligament balance using explicit finite element analysis. This project is funded by Action Medical Research.
Applicants are expected to hold at least a BEng in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent discipline and a PhD in a relevant area is desirable. A working knowledge of finite element analysis is essential and in particular explicit finite element formulations. Additional knowledge of biomechanics, particularly related to total knee joint replacement, would be advantageous.
For informal enquires, please contact Professor Mark Taylor, School of Engineering Sciences Tel: 02380 597660, Fax: 02380 593230 or email: mtaylor@soton.ac.uk.
Starting salary will be £23,457 - £25,633 per annum within the range of £23,457 - £28,820 per annum.
