    Position available: PROFESSOR

    The successful candidate will work with the existing senior staff to
    lead the continuing strategic development of the Centre for
    Rehabilitation and Human Performance Research (CRHPR) as a
    key national and international player in its field.

    The Centre boasts over £2 million external research funding from
    EPSRC, EU, Dept of Health and other agencies since 2001 and
    £900K of infrastructure investment from the University. There is a
    strong community of scholars, including the Professors, four
    permanent Senior Research Fellows, 20 academic staff, nine
    contract research staff, over 25 post graduate research students
    and an established list of international collaborators. Growth
    continues to be very strong.

    The current research within the Centre is diverse and the Chair will
    be appointed in any subject area that facilitates its continued
    growth. Key areas include lower and upper limb biomechanics,
    human movement modelling, assistive device design, gait, balance
    and posture, laboratory and clinical measurement science, sports
    performance and injury, and evaluation of therapy interventions from
    clinical and patient focused perspectives. Clinical areas of current
    interest include (but are not restricted to) stroke, diabetes and
    musculoskeletal disease. Applications are welcome from

    Working across traditional academic and health care boundaries is
    central to the success of CRHPR and there are active links with
    the following groups within the University: engineering, biomedical
    sciences, robotics, virtual reality, informatics and the 6* built
    environment group.
