Most usually the limb "going to sleep" is the result of localized
ischemic compression of a nerve. Effectively it is a very minor, and
easily recoverable, form of nerve damage.

Subject: [BIOMCH-L] What causes a leg to go to sleep after prolonged
sitting?
Dear colleagues,
What causes a leg to "go to sleep" after prolonged sitting?
Is the cause vascular, muscular or nervous?
Is it dangerous or just a nuisance?
Regards,
