    University of Minnesota
    Program in Physical Therapy
    Faculty Opening-Orthopaedic Biomechanics

The Program in Physical Therapy at the University of Minnesota is inviting
applications for a 12-month tenured or tenure-track faculty position at a
rank commensurate with experience (Assistant through Full Professor). This
position is newly created to expand current faculty. Responsibilities
include pursuing extramural funding, performing faculty research in
orthopaedic biomechanics, supervising graduate student research and
teaching biomechanics/orthopaedics content. Research experience and
productivity is expected as well as integral involvement in the PhD Program
in Rehabilitation Sciences. Candidates should demonstrate strong evidence
or promise as successful scientists and educators in rehabilitation
sciences and have enthusiasm for participating in faculty governance and
professional service. The position requires an academic doctorate.
Preference will be given to an applicant with post-doctoral experience, a
clinical degree in physical therapy, and past orthopaedic clinical
experience, but applicants without a clinical degree will be considered.

The Program in Physical Therapy is an academic unit with a 60-year history
within the School of Medicine, and upholds a strong national
reputation. Degree programs include the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT),
and MS and PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences. The University of Minnesota is a
major public research institution with substantial opportunities for
collaborative work with well-established senior faculty in physical therapy
and other medical and biomedical disciplines. Currently, Physical Therapy
faculty are active in federally funded research in areas of biomechanics of
musculoskeletal dysfunction and rehabilitation, muscle adaptations with
aging and disease, neuroplasticity and fMRI, and balance and fall prevention.

Anticipated start date is Summer of 2007. Applications will be reviewed
beginning July 1, 2006 and the search will remain open until the position
is filled. Applications should include your curriculum vitae, a cover
letter outlining your research agenda and teaching experience, and the
names and contact information and emails for three references. For further
