PhD Studentships in Sports Biomechanics
Applications are invited for two PhD studentships in the Biomechanics of
Gymnastics within the School of Sport and Exercise Sciences at Loughborough
University.
Topic 1: The mechanics of takeoffs in vaulting
The mechanics of the takeoff phase from the vaulting table in Artistic
Gymnastics will be investigated using a combination of high speed motion
analysis and computer simulation.
Topic 2: The mechanics of somersault takeoffs in trampolining
The mechanics of the takeoff phase of somersaults in trampolining will be
investigated using a combination of high speed motion analysis and computer
simulation.
Applicants should have a good first degree in Sports Science, Physics,
Engineering, Mathematics, Computing or other related discipline.
The studentships offer a £10,500 stipend plus tuition fees at the UK/EU rate
for three years of fulltime study commencing 1 October 2006. The deadline
for applications is 19 June 2006.
