  • Shoulder instant axis of rotation

I am currently looking at upper extremity trajectory under different
reaching and grasping conditions. Specifically, I am looking for a way
to model the instantaneous axis of rotation at the shoulder joint. I
have collected some pilot data, but need to clean up my computer model.
My marker placements included bilateral AC joints, C-7, mid sternal,
mid upper arm, lateral elbow, mid forearm, ulnar side of wrist, 3rd
metacarpel and the object being manipulated. There are also virtual
landmarks on the medial elbow and radial side of the wrist.

    Specific questions:
1). Is there a way to estimate the shoulder joint center from one or
both AC joints or from a combination of the markers listed above?
2). If not...can anyone suggest a viable model to estimate the
    shoulder joint center of rotation?

    Thanks,
    Michelle Cwiklinski
