Position Available: Senior Lecturer - Biomechanics

School of Health Sciences, Faculty of Health & Behavioural Science,
    University of Wollongong, Australia

The School of Health Sciences is seeking to appoint a motivated
individual with an established track record in biomechanics to join the
vibrant research and teaching team within the Exercise Science &
Rehabilitation program. The primary role of the position is to add
further critical mass to the dynamic applied biomechanics research
program, driven by the Biomechanics Research Laboratory (BRL), while
contributing to and developing interactions within the School's teaching
program in areas such as biomechanics, exercise rehabilitation, and
ergonomics. Areas of focused research excellence within the BRL are
    listed at http://www.uow.edu.au/health/brl/research.html.

Applications will be especially welcome from individuals with a research
specialisation in the biomechanics of injury prevention and
rehabilitation, particularly in areas such as mechanisms of lower
extremity dysfunction during dynamic landings, intelligent textiles as
biofeedback systems, breast movement and brassiere design, safe footwear
for older women, and childhood obesity.

    Position Environment:
The School of Human Health Sciences is the largest of the four Schools
(Graduate Medicine, Nursing and Psychology) within the Faculty of Health
and Behavioural Sciences at the University of Wollongong. Within the
School, research based BSc(Hons), MSc(Research), and PhD degrees build
on integrated under- and postgraduate degree programs in Exercise
Science and Rehabilitation, Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S), Medical
and Premedical Science, Nutrition/Dietetics & Population Health. The
School of Health Sciences offers a dynamic research and teaching
environment, comprising over 17 research and teaching laboratories with
research that ranges from cell culture and molecular biology to animal
studies and human intervention trials, including the vibrant BRL, who
have a particular interest in the biomechanics of injury prevention. In
addition to research, the successful applicant will be expected to
contribute to teaching and supervision at undergraduate and postgraduate
levels in Exercise Science and Rehabilitation, and to demonstrate
commitment to maintaining the School's excellent standards in teaching
and learning. Further details of the University of Wollongong can be
    found at http://www.uow.edu.au/
