  • Question injury mechanics

    Dear readers,

For a research on landing mats in gymnastics, I am looking for
information on maximal forces in the lower extremity before causing
    injury during a landing.
I am looking for information on forces causing injury to lower extremity
muscles, tendons and/or ligaments. In specific would it be very helpful
to find this information including the subtle differences between
    childrens and adults.

From cadaver studies I have found information on the maximal tensile
stress in specific tendons, but subsequently the question arises on how
ultimate tensile strength can be translated to in vivo maximal
strengths, since inside the body part of a joint force is captured by
    surrounding muscles.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

    sincerely yours,

    Pamela de Jong
