We are searching for a Research Associate to work with a group developing MR elastography methods that image the mechanical properties of tissue in vivo using MRI. There are many potential applications including the detection and evaluation of: breast cancer, liver disease, and diabetes. The successful candidate will develop improved reconstructions for experimental and clinical studies. Our current MR elastography reconstruction methods employ finite element based methods implemented in FORTRAN with MPI. A PhD in engineering, physical science, mathematics or equivalent experience is required and some experience with finite element codes or numerical methods and familiarity with wave propagation in solids is desirable. Funding is available for three years.
We will begin consideration of completed applications on Sept. 1, 2006
