The Neuroengineering and Bionanotechnology Lab (www.bio.dibe.unige.it) at
the Department of Biophysical and Electronic Engineering of the University
of Genova, Italy is looking for candidates with a degree in Engineering or
Physics interested in enrolling in

Ph.D. course in Bioengineering
Ph.D. course in Nanotechnology

while working in one of the following research projects:
- study of the mechanical properties of native and engineered
cartilage at the nanometer scale (in collaboration with the M.E. Muller
Institute of the Biozentrum, University of Basel, Switzerland)
- development of new methods to study cell membrane processes by means
of Scanning Probe Microscopy based techniques (in collaboration with Agilent
Technologies)
- development of a biosensor based on arrays of nanomechanical
transducers
- study of the computational properties of natural neural systems in
vitro by means of microelectrode arrays
- development of a neuro-robotic system to study the adaptive
processes and synaptic plasticity in networks of neurons

The Ph.D. courses consist in a three year program with an associated
scholarship of 10000 Euros per year after taxes.
