TITLE: Conditions for Computer-Supported Cooperative Work: The
Significance of the Psychosocial Work Environment

ABSTRACT
In this article the notion of `support' in Computer-Supported
Cooperative Work (CSCW) is discussed together with some
implications of being serious about applying this notion. The
necessity of understanding work organization on an
actor-oriented basis is pointed out. Accordingly, the
psychosocial work environment approach to the understanding,
analysis and evaluation of human work is presented. Finally,
the implications of actually employing this perspective in a
methodology for CSCW development are outlined.
