  • Professor/Associate Professor in Exercise Science

    A position exists for a Professor/Associate Professor in Exercise
    Science at Charles Sturt University, Australia.

    The successful applicant will be based in the School of Human Movement
    Studies (SHMS) on the Bathurst campus. The SHMS offers undergraduate
    programs in exercise science, physical and health education and a range
    of double degrees in business, psychology, and sports journalism. The
    School also offers honours and PhD programs.

    The School is committed to providing quality education, development of
    innovative methods of course delivery, being responsive to market needs
    and fostering research and scholarship. The School has fourteen academic
    staff across the discipline of human movement studies and boasts
    state-of-the-art laboratory facilities which include a climate chamber,
    exercise biochemistry, physiology and biomechanics laboratories.

    Responsibilities:

    The primary responsibility of the successful applicant will be to
    provide leadership and support in the area of research and external
    grant income. The appointee will provide leadership in academic
    activities related to exercise science and will demonstrate a high level
    of commitment to leadership in teaching, scholarship and research in the
    discipline. The incumbent will conduct and foster research in a cognate
    area of exercise science as well as undertake postgraduate supervision,
    seek opportunities for attracting external grant income and foster
    collaborative links with community partners.

    Essential:
    *A doctoral qualification relevant to exercise science.
    *Distinguished record of educational and research excellence.
    *Eligibility for accreditation with the Australian Association of
    Exercise and Sport Science.
    *Distinguished research track record and evidence of leadership in
    teaching, scholarship and research.
    *Record of successful grant income.

    Desirable:
    *Research interests that are aligned with the research priorities and
    concentrations of the School.

    Selection Process:
    Short listed candidates will normally be required to give a presentation
    to the Selection Committee and Faculty staff as part of the selection
    process. Candidates will be asked to address the following topic: What
    are the major contemporary issues in the education of exercise
    scientists, research and practice and how do these relate to the health
    care industry?

    Applicants are encouraged to submit their applications by Monday 13
    November 2006. However, the University continues to consider
    applications until positions are filled.
