PhD Studentship on Rehabilitation Robotics at the Instituto de Automatica
Industrial (IAI) form the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas
(CSIC) in Madrid (SPAIN)
A PhD position is available at the recently created Biomedical
Engineering Group of the Institute of Automatics from the National Research
Council of Spain, located in Madrid (Spain), to work on an international
research project in the field of Rehabilitation Robotics and with the
ultimate goal of strengthening this new group with promising young scientists.
The Biomedical Engineering Group from the Institute of Automatics that
belongs to National Research Council of Spain has been recently created to
carry out a long-term research program in Biomechanics, Motor control, and
Rehabilitation Robotics. The goals of the Biomedical Engineering group are
both scientific and technological. On the one hand we aim at understanding
the motor control of biological systems and its interaction with the
environment from an engineering point of view and, on the other hand, to
design devices to compensate disability and dependence in several
pathologies, or, in general, human performance enhancement, either in
health applications or to improve the self-sufficiency of disabled people.
The candidate should hold a Masters degree in Movement Science (or similar)
or in Mechanical, Electrical, Control or Biomedical Engineering.
The position is vacant as of January 1st, 2007 or upon arrangement.
The 3-year position offered will be extended to a 4th year to complete a
PhD upon satisfactory evaluation of the research project.
The language required is English, however, it is expected that the
candidate is willing to learn Spanish in the short term.
Interested candidates should send their resumes with references and school
transcripts by email to aforner@iai.csic.es or by post to:
