Thank you to all of you who responded to the preliminary announcement of
the Symposium on Functional Footwear to be held in conjunction with the CSB
Biennial meeting in Calgary, August 18-20. The planning group is busy
putting together a program, which we hope to have finalised and distributed
by January. In the meantime, here are some responses to some general
questions:
1. MEETING FORMAT
The results of a questionnaire poll taken at the ISB meeting show only 15%
of respondants preferring formal scientific sessions with 10 minute slide
presentations, etc. In contrast, 88% of respondants favoured a meeting
format consisting of longer, less formal presentations with extended
discussion periods and / or invited seminar presentations with extended
discussions. Therefore, most of the Symposium sessions will take the latter
form.
2. CSB CALL FOR PAPERS
Anyone planning to attend the Symposium and who wioshes to present a formal
paper may do so by submitting an abstract to CSB. Formal presentations on
footwear related topics will be incorporated into the CSB program in the
normal way. A special session may be organised if the number of accepted
papers in this area is appropriate.
3. CONTACT INFORMATION
A couple of people asked for FAX numbers to pass on to their colleagues. I
have therefore taken the liberty of repeating the contact information
