What is ESMAC: The purpose of ESMAC (the European Society of Movement Analysis
for Adults and Children) is to stimulate and advance scientific knowledge,
professional interaction and the exchange of ideas among Society members
relating to movement analysis in adults and children in clinical and research
settings. The Society is affiliated with Gait and Posture. Members of the
Society can receive a subscription to the journal at the reduced rate as part
of their annual membership of the Society.
History of the Conference: Thus far 15 Conferences have been held by the
society. The latest was the very successful 1st Joint ESMAC & Gait and
Clinical Movement Analysis Society (GCMAS) Meeting (JEGM06) SEPTEMBER 28-30,
2006 Amsterdam, The Netherlands http://www.jegm06.org.
GAIT COURSES: Building on a tradition of well structured annual gait courses,
this year's courses offer a unique opportunity by combining expertise in the
field of clinical gait analysis. The faculty will consist of representatives
of expert centres in the field of clinical movement analysis.
The GAIT COURSE will introduce the concepts of clinical gait analysis to
non-experienced personnel. Concepts covered will include measurement and
processing techniques, as well as data interpretation and clinical decision
making. Clinical case studies will provide an essential part of the teaching
program.
The CONTINUING EDUCATION IN DATA INTERPRETATION will expand on the Gait Course
and is open to those with more experience. It will aim to provide a wider
perspective on measurement and processing techniques, as well as data
interpretation and clinical decision making. Extensive use of clinical case
studies and round table discussions will be central to this course.
Movement Analysis is an interdisciplinary area that attracts people from
various scientific backgrounds.
