The Department of Mechanical Engineering (ME) at Virginia Tech seeks a
candidate for a tenure track faculty position. All areas of biomechanics
will be considered with primary importance given for research interests in
injury biomechanics with applications in high rate loading such as those
seen in military environments. The position is targeted at the Assistant
Professor level, but outstanding applications at the Associate level will be
considered. Applicants with strong interdisciplinary interests are
encouraged. Interest and ability to teach design related courses are also
encouraged. Successful applicants must have a doctorate and will be
expected to develop a strong research program and contribute to the

new faculty positions this year. Currently, the ME Department has 40
faculty members with an enrollment of approximately 900 undergraduate
students and 200 graduate (100 PhD) students. Tech's programs in Mechanical
