  • Graduate Student Research Assistantships at MS State University,Starkville, MS

    The Biomedical Engineering Program at Mississippi State University has Graduate
    Research Assistantships available immediately for students accepted to the
    doctoral degree program. The 12-month assistantships include tuition and a
    competitive stipend. Areas of ongoing research at MSU include mechanobiology
    of mesenchymal stem cells, cartilage, and aortic valves; orthopaedic
    biomechanics; development of new computational models of musculoskeletal
    tissues; bioinformatics; and medical micro-device engineering. In addition to
    specialized equipment for altering the mechanical environment of living cells,
    MSU has state-of-the art core laboratories for imaging and genomics/proteomics
    investigations. Biomedical Engineering graduate students interact with
    clinicians in the College of Veterinary Medicine and have access to excellent
    laboratory animal facilities. During the Summer of 2007, the BME program will
    move into a new 40,000+ square foot facility that includes graduate offices and
    over 5,000 square feet of customized laboratory space.

    Qualifications: Candidates should have an undergraduate degree in biomedical,
    mechanical, chemical, or computer science engineering. A strong background in
    molecular and/or cellular biology is desirable, but not required.
