    Call for Paper

    The Inaugural

    international Convention for Rehabilitative

    Engineering & Assistive Technology (i-CREATe 2007)

    23 - 26 April 2007, Singapore

    Dear Distinguished Colleague,
    The international Conference for Rehabilitation Engineering & Assistive
    Technology (i-CREATe) is jointly organized by
    the Thailand’s National Electronics and Computer Technology Centre
    (NECTEC) and the Singapore Therapeutic, Assistive &
    Rehabilitative Technologies (START) Centre .

    This conference addresses current and future developments in the areas of
    Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology. Topic areas include, but
    not limited to:

    * New rehabilitative techniques & studies, novel assistive technology
    products
    * Assistive robotics, rehabilitative & therapeutic robotics, robotic
    environments and companions
    * Biomedical devices and instruments
    * Orthoses, exoskeletons, innovative mobility aids
    * User interfaces, brain-computer interface, bio-signal control interface
    * AAC products, studies & evaluations, translations
    * Universal design, inclusive housing & work place, transportation,
    accessibility issues
    * Smart home technology, environment control technology
    * Computer access products, software, studies & evaluations
    * Product development, commercialization, start-ups, and business
    related topics
    * Social issues, policies, political issues related disability and
    aging population.

    CALL FOR EXTENDED ABSTRACTS:
    The deadline to submit an abstract is 31 January, 2007. If accepted, a
    complete paper is required for inclusion in the conference proceedings. For
    further information about extended abstract submissions, please visit our

    SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
    * Extended abstracts should be between about 500-1000 words, OR no more
    than 2 single-column, double line spacing pages (including all illustrations
    and pictures).

    * Only electronic submission would be accepted.
    All paper submissions are peer reviewed and also by the technical programme
    committee. Accepted work must be presented by one of the authors. The full
    conference papers will be published and indexed in ACM Digital Library and EI.

    BEST STUDENT PAPER AWARDS:
    Best Student Paper Awards will be selected at i-CREATe’07. Papers that are
    based on the independent research of students who are presenting the work are
    eligible for the Best Student Paper Award. The abstract must be identified as
    a student paper at the time of abstract submission. The award will be based on
    the quality of the written abstract and the oral or poster presentation.

    CALL FOR SPECIAL SESSIONS:
    Proposals for organized sessions that address specialized or general topics on
    Rehabilitative Engineering (RE) and Assistive Technology (AT) are encouraged.
    Once accepted, organizer(s) of the special sessions are responsible for the
    soliciting of relevant papers, which will be subjected to the same review
    process.

    CALL FOR WORKSHOPS:
    The pre-conference workshops are in-depth, interactive, hands-on sessions in
    focus topic areas. Proposals for the following topics (non-exhaustive) are
    encouraged:

    * Research and Development in Assistive Technology and Rehabilitative
    Engineering
    * BioMedical devices and its application for people with special needs
    * Involving clients in selection of technologies
    Once accepted, the organizer(s) are responsible for the invitation of the
    speakers and instructors.

    EXHIBITS:
    An extensive exhibit hall will be displaying rehabilitation and assistive
    equipment. Viewings of the exhibits are open to the public for a nominal fee.
